Dishcovered (“we”) is a food-discovery app operated by Tech Cleanup. This policy describes what we collect, why, and your choices. Contact: [email protected].

What we collect

Account — your email, name, and sign-in identity, handled by our authentication provider (Clerk). We store your user ID, handle, display name, and bio.
Location— with your permission, your device position is used to sort places near you and, when you take an action at a restaurant (recommend, review, post, or tap “Been here”), to verify that visit. Visit records store the coordinates, accuracy, and distance of that one moment. We never track your location in the background or store a movement history.
Content you add — Instagram links you import, photos/videos you upload, comments, reviews, saved places, follows, and visits. Imported public Instagram posts are analyzed by AI (xAI Grok) to identify the restaurant and dishes; media is stored on our servers and always links back to the original post.
Usage — which place cards you see (to avoid repeating them) and basic server logs. We use no third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

Where data goes

Clerk (authentication), Railway (hosting and database).
Google Places and Google Routes (restaurant details and directions lookups).
xAI (AI analysis of imported posts and menus).
ScrapeCreators / Apify (fetching the public Instagram posts you ask us to import).

We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.

What others see

Your profile (handle, display name, bio), your shared map (saved, been, and recommended places), your posts, and your comments/reviews are visible to other users. A “verified visit” badge shows that an action was location-verified — never the coordinates themselves. Visit locations are never shown to anyone; admins can see distance/accuracy numbers solely to police abuse.

Your choices

Location permission is optional; every feature still works without it (visits are simply unverified).
You can delete individual posts, comments, visits, and saved places at any time.
You can delete your whole account in Profile → Edit → Delete account. This removes your profile, personal map, visits, follows, and uploaded media, and disconnects your name from imported posts. It cannot be undone.
You can block any user; you disappear from each other’s feeds and comments.

Children

Dishcovered is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We will update this page when the policy changes; material changes will be noted in-app.
